Artist talk with Guy Templeton & Dr Kristian Häggblom

Join us for a talk at the Climate Solvers exhibition with the Photographer Guy Templeton and Dr Kristian Häggblom, Master of Arts Photography Convenor at Photography Studies College (Melbourne).

They will discuss the project—its motivation and genesis, the challenges of a national documentary project and how they were overcome, the interplay of research andpractice including the role of the Masters program, and trends in contemporary photography.

Dr Kristian Häggblomis a Naarm (Melbourne)-based artist, academic, independent curator and photobook collector who works with conceptual documentary and expanded modes of photography that have included/combined sound, collected objects, video, text, publishing, performance and commissioned work. Häggblom completed his undergraduate studies in 1997 (RMIT), an Honours project in 2003 (University of Tasmania) and his PhD, titled Viewing Platforms, in 2014 (Monash University). He has worked extensively in Japan where he made work funded by the Australia Council for the Arts and has undertaken an Australia Council artist-in-residency on Soumenlinna Island in Finland. His work has been exhibited internationally including exhibitions in Australia, Japan, America, Mexico, India and Switzerland and is held in substantial collections.

Guy Templeton focuses on people and communities creating practical responses toclimate change. His documentary project Climate Solvers profiles Australians leading solutions in

decarbonisation, adaptation and resilience. An engineer by training, Guy’s career has spanned senior leadership roles ininfrastructure, energy and professional services, informing his understanding of the transition now underway.

He is completing a Master of Arts at Photography Studies College, Melbourne. Climate Solvers is being exhibited at UTS in December 2025, and his work has featured in River Dialogues (2025) in Melbourne and Osaka, the Head On Photo Festival (a Climate Solvers image is the Australian Runner up in the Exposure Awards 2025), and has received awards in the Australian Photographic Prize, the Mono Awards and the Capture Awards
